More Than A Game

This weekend LeBron James and family will be heading to Toronto for the Toronto Film Festival. That’s because the “More Than A Game” documentary will be making it’s big screen debut. It’s about how basketball has shaped the lives of LeBron, and all of his friends and teammates. It’s a combination of footage from Bron’s high school career with interviews, home videos and family pictures.

They say it’s about more than basketball, it’s about “friendship, loyalty and love”. This movie was directed and written by Kris Belman. He started this documentary in LeBron’s senior year at St. Vincent’s Saint Mary High School. LeBron hopes this film will inspire the youth.

Delicious Vinyl

Delicious Vinyl is an American independent record label founded by Matt Dike and Michael Ross in 1987 and based in Los Angeles. Throughout its history, the label has had distribution deals with PolyGram, Warner Music Group, EMI, Red Ant, Rhino and Universal Music Group. UCLA student Michael Ross met New York City transplant Matt Dike while Dike was DJing at a Hollywood club called Rhythm Lounge in the mid 1980s. The pair discovered they were both members of Impact Record Pool, a service that provided new 12″ records to club DJs, and that they shared a taste in soul, funk, and hip-hop. Soon Dike became the top DJ at the legendary downtown Los Angeles club Power Tools and Ross followed suit. In 1987 they founded their own independent record label Delicious Vinyl and the rest is history.

Here is Akron’s own, LeBron James, sporting a Delicious Vinyl T-Shirt ($20) during the USA Men’s Basketball Team’s Olympic preparation sessions in Beijing, China.

Clevelanders: 23 Cent Pizza on Thursday

Stupid Lady

Papa John’s Pizza issued an apology to Cleveland and the Cavaliers for making T-shirts with LeBron James‘ number and the word “crybaby” under it.

To apologize, Papa John’s will sell Cleveland residents a large, one-topping pizza for 23 cents on Thursday (5-8-08). The company also will donate $10,000 to the Cavaliers Youth Fund.

The pizza chain’s T-shirts were featured during the Cavs’ games against the Wizards on Friday in Washington. Wizards fans taunted the Cavs, who won the playoff series that night in Game 6.

The shirts started after James complained about hard fouls, and Wizards center Brendan Haywood called him a crybaby.

So if you interested in gorging your brains out this Thursday, head to Cleveland to with a quarter and prepare to feast on ridiculously cheap pie!
